INSTRUCTIONS:
1st Step
Set your oven’s temperature to 350°F (175°C) to start. To keep things from sticking, line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Place the salted crackers on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer. Make sure they are tightly fitted to completely cover the surface.
2nd Step
Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat, then mix in the brown sugar. Stirring continuously, let the mixture gently boil. When the mixture reaches a boil, keep stirring for an additional 3 to 4 minutes, or until it thickens and resembles caramel. The combination will be quite hot, so use caution.
3rd Step
After turning off the heat, gently add the vanilla essence to the pot. The caramel will have a great depth of taste as a result. Pour the hot caramel liquid swiftly and evenly over the positioned crackers. If necessary, spread it out with a spatula to make sure all the crackers are covered.
4th Step
For around 10 minutes, or when the caramel is bubbling and has slightly darkened, place the baking sheet in the preheated oven. As soon as you take the baking sheet out of the oven, evenly distribute the chocolate chips over the warm caramel. Give them some time to soften while they are sitting.
Used to have this thanks to nan every year but never remembered to pen it down. Buzzing that I’ve found something that comes quite close!
