Julia had been a single mom for the past five years, ever since her husband left without warning. Her world revolved around her eight-year-old son, Ethan, a bright and cheerful boy who was the light of her life. Balancing her career as a graphic designer with the demands of parenting left little time for anything else, let alone dating. “Would you like to meet again?” Thomas asked as they neared the park’s exit.
“I’d love that,” Julia replied. “Maybe next time, we can bring our boys along. Ethan loves the park.”
Thomas agreed, and they exchanged phone numbers before parting ways. That evening, Julia couldn’t help but feel hopeful. She found herself looking forward to their next meeting.
The following weekend, Julia and Ethan arrived at the park to meet Thomas and Alex. Ethan was excited to make a new friend, and Julia felt a flutter of nerves as they approached the playground where Thomas and Alex were waiting.
When Ethan and Alex spotted each other, they froze, staring wide-eyed. Julia’s heart skipped a beat.
