Just like humans, fruit flies and mosquitoes love red wine, or at least the smell of it. Mix 1/2 cup of red wine with 1 1/2 cups of water and pour it into the trap described above. Place the jar where you create most of these
animals, then you can watch them fly into the trap and drown in the liquid. Replace the solution if there are too many dead insects in it.
Apple cider vinegar This is perhaps one of the most commonly used home remedies because apple cider vinegar is cheap and easy to find. Heat about 1/2 cup or more of apple cider vinegar to make it stronger. Add a few drops of liquid soap and mix well. Pour the solution into the trap jar and leave it alone.
The sweet smell of vinegar attracts flies and mosquitoes, while the liquid soap actually acts as an insect killer. Once the jar is full of dead insects, rinse it out and repeat the process.
Another easy way to build a trap is to use the items that initially attracted the pests. Replacing the liquid in the trap jar with a piece of overripe fruit or vegetable also works well.
Remember to submerge the jar containing the caught insects to kill them before setting another trap.
Milk, Pepper, and Sugar
If you have dairy products or don’t necessarily have the equipment to make a glass trap, you can heat 2 cups of milk with 8 tablespoons of sugar and 4 tablespoons of ground pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes, then pour the solution into a shallow dish over the problem area.
